Transforming One Stride at a Time.
Glory Reins provides therapeutic riding for children and adults with physical or mental disabilities.
Glory Reins believes in the rehabilitation effects of horsemanship as applied to therapy sessions for children, troubled teens and low-income adults.
Glory Reins creates an environment that few are able to experience today. We strive to impart life skills and an improved work ethic, while also installing a sense of confidence, trust and hope in the children as well as adults of our community, encouraging them to reach beyond limitations.
In recent years, research and experimentation regarding the use of horses in various forms of therapy have qualified this new form of therapy. As a result, horses are currently being used in many types of therapy. Horse use has gained mainstream acceptance as a form of therapy for children or young adults with emotional or psychological disabilities. Emotionally, children and young troubled adults are naturally drawn to these majestic and beautiful animals, and many develop meaningful bonds that last a lifetime, resulting in socialization and bonding that they need while further supporting their progress as a healthy, functioning individual.
Most of the children/adults that participate in our program are hurting in some way. To Glory Reins, the word “hurting” takes on many shapes and forms: mentally, physically, emotionally, and functionally. Some of the disabilities served by therapeutic riding at Glory Reins Riding School can include but are not limited to: autism, Down’s syndrome, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, multiple sclerosis, emotional disabilities, PTSD, amputations, learning disabilities, as well as attention deficit disorders. Consequently, “hurting” can come from numerous causes but “healing ” occurs when working closely with one of nature’s counselors, a beautiful horse.

The GRRS program has been an active program in similar function for approximately five years, since 2012, under the same management, same officers, and same directors. The 501c3 program has been functioning since approval on Mar 13, 2014.

Goals
The goal of GRRS is to create an environment which few are able to experience today. We strive to impart life skills and improved work ethics, while installing a sense of confidence, trust and hope in children and adults of our community; encouraging them to reach beyond limitations.
GRRS is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of children, teens, and adults through the use of horses and the “barn experience”. A unique combination of equine related activities, to include riding, ground management of horses; recreation and fun are all employed. Through these activities, lives are transformed “one stride at a time”.
We also support students who simply do not have access to horses through any other means, financially or otherwise. Our experience has shown that as “healthy” children and adults work, play and grow beside “broken” ones, both are encouraged with a greater appreciation and understanding of others, bringing hope to the spirit of the wounded to believe they too have a future.
The benefits of Equine therapy and horsemanship have been well documented through the years. Therapeutic riding offers a motivational opportunity to improve attention span, concentration, memory, and language skill development. The positive horse and human interaction can result in a greater sense of teamwork, self esteem, responsibility and communication. The horse is an effective therapy tool because the horse’s movement stimulates a normal human gait. This gentle rhythmic movement helps improve balance, muscle control and tone, motor development and coordination, balance, posture, strength, and overall body awareness.
Through all these benefits of equine therapy and recreation, students are transformed, one stride at a time, as part of the glory of GRRS.
